A little love for The Sweater Shop
The Sweater Shop: pieces I reach for year after year
I bought my first jumper from The Sweater Shop four years ago, and it still looks like new.
Every autumn and winter, it comes back out of the wardrobe, ready for another season. For me, that’s what good value looks like: something you love wearing that lasts well beyond the year you bought it.
Over time, I’ve added more pieces to my collection. They’re the kind of clothes I can see myself keeping for years, and I love having favourites that I look forward to wearing when the weather turns cooler.
The Sweater Shop is an Irish owned, family run business celebrating 40 years of service, with stores in Galway, Kilkenny and Dublin. There’s something lovely about shopping with a family business, especially when the welcome is as warm as it is here.
And there’s much more to browse than jumpers. You’ll find beautiful cardigans, scarves, hats, slippers, accessories and wax jackets as well as children’s clothing. There are men’s and unisex jumpers too, so it’s somewhere to explore whether you’re choosing something for
yourself or looking for a present.
What I particularly appreciate is the combination of quality and an affordable price point. My own four year old jumper is the best example I can give of how well the pieces can wear. It’s earned its place in my wardrobe, and that matters to me far more than buying something I’ll only wear a handful of times.
The staff deserve a mention too. They’re so friendly and helpful, and they make a visit feel welcoming and relaxed. If you’re in Galway, Kilkenny or Dublin, I’d definitely recommend popping in for a look.
If you can’t get to a store, you can browse their range online at SweaterShop.com.
For me, The Sweater Shop is somewhere to find pieces you’ll enjoy now and look forward to bringing out again next autumn. Four years on, my first jumper is still doing exactly that.
